Italy 2015 - Rome Day Two - Palazzo Altemps

Rome Day Two - Palazzo Altemps

After diverting Dad and Maria to Castel Sant'Angelo I did indeed lead them to our actual destination which was the Palazzo Altemps. I loved this museum! Not only are the statues on exhibit wonderful but the building is worth visiting all on its own as it was very beautiful. The palazzo dates back to the 15th century and was home to many powerful and affluent families over the centuries and is now a National Museum.

We received a discounted entry with our Roma Pass.

The museum has classical, Renaissance and Egyptian art on display.

While the museum mostly focuses on Roman and Italian Renaissance sculpture there is a small Egyptian exhibit.

The rooms of the Palazzo are a work of art in and of themselves in my opinion.

This museum is definitely worth a visit if you have the time. It is right near the Piazza Navona and is included in the Roma Pass.
